Afrobeats star says performing with former partner still stirs deep emotions years after their relationship ended
Nigerian Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has openly admitted that she still harbours feelings for her former partner and longtime collaborator, Wizkid, describing their onstage reunions as emotionally overwhelming.
In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on X, the award-winning artiste confessed that sharing the stage with Wizkid remains uncomfortable because of the history they share together.
According to Tiwa Savage, their recent reunion at the Great Lagos Countdown 2025 brought back emotions she believed she had long put behind her.
“It’s uncomfortable performing with Wizkid on stage. I admit I’m still in love with him,” she said.
She explained that seeing Wizkid again after years apart caused her heart to race, much like it did when they were romantically involved.
“When we reunited at Great Lagos Countdown 2025, my heart beat just as it did six years ago. Every time Wizkid gets close, I can’t control my smile,” she revealed.
Tiwa further reflected on their past relationship, noting that the fond memories they created together sometimes overshadow the difficulties they experienced.
“He gave me so many beautiful memories that I almost forgot how bad our relationship once was. If I could choose one man in this lifetime, it would only be Wizkid,” she added.
