“As A Gospel Musician, Your Life Must Always Reflect That Of Christ” – Esther Smith

In an exclusive conversation with blogger Kobby Kyei, Esther Smith shared the keys to her success and the reasons her songs were successful even though many of her peers were putting out new music on a regular basis.

She clarified that the main components of her music-making process were character, spiritual preparation, and prayer. She would make sure her music reflected her beliefs by spending time studying the Bible and praying earnestly before releasing any songs.

“I take the time to study the Bible and pray fervently before I release a song,” she stated.

Another unusual part of Esther Smith’s creative approach was that she had never composed a song on paper. Rather, all of her songs are completely developed and divinely inspired in her head. None of the songs on her 10 albums were composed by hand; she refers to this method as a firsthand experience with the Holy Spirit.

“I head immediately to the studio to record whenever a song comes to me. I collaborate with my producer, Morris Babyface, to make the Twi language come to life because I am unable to write it. I felt anxious because I had to record it because the songs just came to me when I wanted to, and the sound engineer was taking too long,” she said.

“Her humility and Christ-like lifestyle also set her apart,” the gospel figure stressed. As a gospel artist, you are idolized, and your music should be a reflection of who you are, she added.

There is more to being a gospel artist than just playing music. She clarified, “Your life must be an example of God’s Word and encourage people to become closer to Him.
