A thief has been apprehended after breaking into a mobile phone shop through the roof in Tamale.
The burglary reportedly occurred late at night in a busy commercial area of the metropolis.
According to reports, the thief gained access to the shop by removing part of the roofing and entering the shop unnoticed.
Several mobile phones and accessories were stolen following the break-in.
However, CCTV cameras installed in the shop captured clear footage of the suspect during the operation, which later proved crucial in identifying and apprehending him.
Following his arrest, a new video that has surfaced online shows the thief in a distressed condition.
In the footage, his face appears badly disfigured, with swollen eyes, as he was mercilessly beaten by some members of the community who apprehended him.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users condemning the act of theft, while others criticised the mob assault, calling for suspects to be handed over to the police rather than subjected to violence.
