Music executive says he reported the controversial socialite to CID over online harassment and alleged blackmail attempts

Ghanaian music executive and entrepreneur Davido GH has accused controversial socialite Showboy of attempting to extort money from him and deliberately damage his reputation through sustained social media attacks.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Moet on Neat FM on February 7, 2026, Davido GH claimed that Showboy repeatedly released videos targeting him online as a way of pressuring him to pay money.
“He does things that he thinks would make me panic and I will give him money. He kept making videos to post online, and my people kept forwarding them to me,” Davido GH said.
According to him, the situation escalated to the point where he sought the intervention of some community and street leaders to help resolve the matter amicably.
“I narrated to the street leaders what Showboy was doing. He started demanding money from me, but I told him I wouldn’t do that,” he explained.
Davido GH said he refused to comply because he feared that paying Showboy would only embolden him and potentially put his family at risk.
“If I give him money and entertain him that much, he would take that on my family if I’m not available, and I don’t want that to happen,” he said.
He further revealed that he eventually reported the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), insisting that he had never engaged in any illegal dealings with Showboy.
“I had to go to the CID headquarters and report him. I never did anything illegal with Showboy,” he stated.
Addressing rumours about questionable wealth, Davido GH said the accusations began after Showboy once saw him in a friend’s Range Rover and wrongly assumed it belonged to him.
“He once saw me in my friend’s Range Rover, so he thought it was mine and started spreading false rumours about me,” he said, describing the attacks as online bullying.
Davido GH stressed that he chose not to respond publicly on social media, saying such behaviour does not align with his personal values.
“He was bullying me on the internet, but I’m not the type who would go on camera and start ranting. I really respect myself, so I can’t do that,” he added.
He challenged Showboy to provide proof of any alleged wrongdoing between them.
“He wants to ruin my reputation, but I dare him to bring evidence that shows that we both had an illegal deal,” Davido GH said.
According to the entrepreneur, although the leaders initially intervened and Showboy promised to take down the videos, he allegedly returned shortly after to insult them online.
“They spoke to him and he said he would delete everything. After an hour, he posted that all land guards are aimless. That means he also disrespected the leaders I contacted,” he alleged.
Davido GH maintained that his refusal to pay any money was deliberate and final, reiterating that he would not succumb to intimidation or blackmail.
