Gospel artist and Ghanaian preacher Sonnie Badu has counseled those getting ready to get married to put purpose and vision first when selecting a life mate.
Before getting married, he advised women in particular to look for partners who have clear objectives and direction in a video posted on Instagram on February 15, 2026.
He emphasized that couples should make sure they are in sync before committing, saying that marrying a guy who lacks vision might impede a woman’s growth in life. He mentioned that he questioned a groom whether he had a purpose and a vision at a recent marriage counseling session, adding, “If you don’t have a purpose and a vision, don’t marry.” He explained that a wife frequently ends up realizing her dreams inside her husband’s purpose.
In addition, Sonnie Badu emphasized that emotional attachment is insufficient and advised women whose goals do not coincide with their partner’s path to reevaluate such partnerships. Although he still believes that the guy should be the head of the marriage, he also stated that a woman may still be a key contributor to her partner’s success and vision.
