A driver’s mate at Kronum in Kumasi is currently on after stabbing his colleague in the neck with a broken bottle during a heated altercation over accusations of skin bleaching.
The suspect, identified only as Mallachy, is said to have attacked Gabriel Arhin, and inflicted life-threatening injuries on him during the heated confrontation.
According to the Suame District Police, the two men who are friends and work as trotro mates, met at a beer bar in the area to drink.
During their interaction, Mallachy accused Arhin of bleaching his skin. The accusation reportedly angered Arhin, leading to a fierce fight between the two.
Eyewitnesses at the scene were said to have intervened and separated the pair. However, police say Mallachy, who was extremely angry and dissatisfied after the separation, picked up a broken Coca-Cola bottle and stabbed Arhin in the neck.
“Both victim and suspect are friends and drivers’ mates residing at Kronum. On 24/01/2026 at about 6:30 p.m., both met at a beer bar at Kronum Kyerease to have a drink. The suspect accused the victim of bleaching his skin, and the victim got offended and they both fought. They were separated by bystanders, and the suspect, who was not satisfied, broke a Coca-Cola bottle and stabbed the victim’s neck.”
The incident was reported to the police by Kwadwo Oheme Williams, who is said to be the father of the victim. Police subsequently visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Accident and Emergency Ward, where Arhin was found on admission and responding to treatment.
