Gambian actress Princess Shyngle has sparked debate on social media after criticising women in relationships who turn to single women for financial support.
In a video shared online, the outspoken actress expressed frustration over what she described as a growing trend of married women and those in committed relationships asking single women for money.
“Struggling is meant for single women only,” Shyngle said. “If you have a man in your life, then that word should not exist in your vocabulary.”
According to her, most of the people who frequently approach her for financial assistance are women who are either married, in relationships, or have children.
“They keep saying we haven’t eaten or my husband is struggling. Are you not ashamed of yourself?” she questioned.
The actress also pointed out what she considers hypocrisy among some married women who publicly encourage others to settle down but privately seek support from single women.
“They come online saying, ‘Go and marry.’ But you in the marriage keep begging us singles for money. We are struggling and grinding,” she stated.
Shyngle further added that single women often face their own financial and emotional challenges, yet are still expected to support others.
“You people carry man for head like World Cup, now you are in single girls’ DMs begging for money,” she said during the rant.
Her remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with some supporting her stance on financial responsibility in relationships, while others argue that economic hardship can affect anyone, regardless of marital status.
