In his reflections on religion and church attendance, Ghanaian hiplife and rap icon Emmanuel Kofi Botwe, better known by his stage as Kwaw Kese, has stated that the most significant place of worship is in one’s own heart.
During an exclusive interview with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio on Hitz FM, the artist was asked if he often attends church. Kwaw Kese responded by saying that while he does go to church, he doesn’t do it often.
“I believe the biggest church one can have or attend is in your heart,” he stated.
He claims that while he occasionally attends other churches, he is not a regular member of any one of them. He underlined that genuine worship transcends attendance.
The rapper went on to say that because they don’t see him praying publicly, some people—including his wife—sometimes believe he doesn’t. He did clarify, though, that he prays to himself.
He clarified that his connection with God is personal, saying, “The fact that it doesn’t come out doesn’t mean I don’t pray.”
