According to Ghanaian songstress Wendy Shay, the public should react to the widely shared video of a Russian national with many Ghanaian women with empathy rather than hatred.
The artist took a break from her performance on February 16, 2026, to address the matter, which has sparked contentious discussions on social media. She was clear that while she did not condone the acts shown in the video, she felt the response to the ladies had been too severe.
She explained to the crowd:
Many of us have already seen the recordings of a Russian man with a few Ghanaian ladies that are making the rounds on the internet. I’m not justifying what occurred, but there’s something crucial to think about.
Our parents’ and grandparents’ beliefs are what led to what transpired. We were led to believe that foreigners or white people are somehow more significant or human than Black people. Anyone might have been engaged in what happened.
It seems that he wanted to promote the idea that African women are inexpensive, but that is just untrue.
