T-Pain, whose real name is Faheem Rashad Najm, was previously signed to Konvict Muzik. After joining the label in 2005, the 41-year-old went ahead to release hit songs including I’m Sprung, Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’), and I’m ‘n Luv (Wit a Stripper). He also landed features for several hit songs. But the singer, in his lawsuit, is claiming that Konvict Muzik still owes him money for his music. Per Complex, T-Pain is claiming that earlier this year, a distributor paid Konvict Muzik $1.3 million in royalties that he was entitled to. He said the label has, however, not fully paid him that money, and he is owed $489,047. This also isn’t the first time that the veteran musician has brought a legal case against Konvict Muzik. In 2018, T-Pain claimed that he was supposed to receive an advance payment for his Oblivion album, but the label did not honor its end of the bargain. And though both parties reached a settlement last year, T-Pain is claiming in his recent case that the label had failed honor the agreement. T-Pain is also not the only person to be embroiled in a legal dispute with Akon. Devyne Stephens, who is Akon’s former business partner, filed a lawsuit against the Konvict Muzik boss in 2022, alleging that he was owed $750,000 from a multimillion-dollar agreement, per Complex. That case was said to be linked to a previous settlement agreement. Besides that, Stephens also claimed that he was owed an additional $3 million in royalties. Stephens’ case also involved a dispute over the position Akon held at the record label and if a portion of his earnings was supposed to be allocated to the plaintiff.

Ghanaian business mogul Dr Kwame Despite Osei has reportedly added a remarkable piece of motorsport history to his growing automobile collection following the reported arrival of a 2013 Marussia MR02 Formula 1 racing car in Ghana.

The red-and-black racing machine has attracted attention among automobile enthusiasts, with reports suggesting that it is the latest addition to Despite’s impressive fleet of luxury, classic and high-performance vehicles.

A Facebook post by Alexander Fifi Abaka claims that the vehicle, which recently arrived in Ghana, has been confirmed as part of Despite’s collection.

The reported acquisition has generated excitement among car enthusiasts, particularly those eager to see the former Formula 1 machine and find out whether it will eventually be displayed at the Despite Automobile Museum in East Legon, Accra.

The 2013 Marussia MR02 is a former Formula 1 racing car developed by the Marussia F1 Team for the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship. According to a 2016 report by Sky Sports, the team’s former racing cars were offered for sale, with an expected price of £200,000 reported for the MR02.

However, this is a historical asking estimate and does not confirm the amount Despite may have paid for the vehicle.

Dr Osei Kwame Despite, who is widely recognised for his passion for automobiles, has spent decades building an impressive collection of rare, classic and luxury vehicles.

His love for automobiles eventually inspired the establishment of the Despite Automobile Museum, a facility created to showcase his collection and allow the public to appreciate some of the world’s remarkable automobiles.

The museum was officially inaugurated on June 1, 2025, in East Legon, Accra, with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, performing the commissioning ceremony.

Established after more than 30 years of automobile collecting, the museum features a variety of classic, vintage and luxury vehicles, including Bugattis, a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith LWB, Bentleys, Mercedes-Benz models, Jaguars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

If the reported acquisition is confirmed and the Marussia MR02 is eventually added to the museum’s exhibits, it would introduce a different dimension to the collection.
