Popular Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has once again taken a stand against the persistent power cuts in the country, known as ‘dumsor’.
The actress, along with two other conveners, has been invited by the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander to discuss her planned Dumsor Must Stop demonstration.
In response to Yvonne Nelson’s notice to the Inspector General of Police on May 13, the regional commander, DCOP Arhin Kwasi Annor, has scheduled a meeting for May 15 to discuss the modalities of the upcoming protest on May 25.
Yvonne Nelson had previously notified the Ghana Police Service about her intention to hold a vigil regarding the erratic power cuts on May 9. The vigil is set to take place at the Revolution Square, starting at 8:30 am and ending at midnight.
The actress expressed her frustrations with the unreliable electricity supply in the country and called on the public to join her in demonstrating against ‘dumsor’. This is not the first time Yvonne Nelson has taken a stand against power outages, as she led a protest in 2015 during the John Mahama administration.
Now, she is calling for the support of the general public to once again show their dissatisfaction with the current state of power supply in the country. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
