Police launch probe into suspected extortion scheme involving popular businessman and music executive
Ghanaian entertainer Showboy has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over allegations of blackmail and extortion targeting Ghanaian entrepreneur and music executive David Mensah, popularly known as Davido GH.
Sources close to the investigation confirmed that Showboy was picked up earlier this week following a formal complaint lodged by Davido GH. Details surrounding the alleged blackmail remain limited, but police insiders say the case involves the circulation of sensitive personal information and demands for money.
The CID is said to be conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the full extent of Showboy’s involvement and whether additional suspects may be implicated.
“The matter is under active investigation. Statements have been taken, and evidence is being reviewed,” a police source familiar with the case told reporters.
