Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has opened up about the personal cost of success, revealing that fame has pushed some people out of his life
According to him, many assume success has changed his attitude. He disagrees. He says he remains the same person, but people now keep their distance simply because of his status.
Sarkodie made this revelation during an interview on Hitz FM in Accra. He explained that fame often creates a false perception, causing friends to withdraw even when nothing has changed.
The award-winning rapper stressed that success comes with isolation. He added that losing friends is one of the realities many people do not talk about.
“Yes a lot of friends. Certain people, no matter the fact that I have become Sarkodie, think I cannot be Michael.
I want to be Michael, but they think I cannot be, so they change before you. This fame thing is not something that really gets to me. That has never been me, but people think that’s what’s supposed to be so they start to act like you are like that so I lost a couple of people,” he said.
